Korea - Land of the Morning Calm: Folk Songs
presented by Peter Duffy

Korean music culture has cultivated a vast collection of folk songs from all regions of the nation, which express the emotions of daily village life. The folk tradition differs from the court tradition not only in musical characteristics but also in thematic material. It seems that there is a folk song for any occasion whether rice planting, fishing, grain mashing, or performing shaman rituals. This presentation includes performances by Chon Tae-Yong, Choi Kyong-Man, and more.
